August 24th Picnic

Dear Troop 16 Families,

As the summer is drawing to a close, the scouting year is just kicking off!  We invite you to join us for our annual family picnic and summer awards celebration on Friday, August 24 at Taylor Park's picnic area (Berkshire, west of Ridgeland) at 6 PM.  We'll provide the area and you provide your own family's picnic dinner.  We'll have hot coals if you want to BBQ burgers, hot dogs, etc.  All merit badges and rank advancement at summer camp will be recognized at the picnic.  

Also, we have upcoming mandatory parent information meetings in September.  Tentative dates are: Wed. Sept. 5 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, Sept. 9 at 3 PM.  A parent of each scout must attend one of these two meetings.  If there is a date change, we'll be sure to notify you.

Our first troop adult committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 4 at 7:30.  The adult committee is our logistical, finance, and oversight committee for the troop.  This is a great way to get involved with the troop.  Even if you aren't a camper, there are many ways to volunteer your time to support the troop.  We hope to see you at First United Church for the committee meeting.

Our first troop meeting for scouts is Friday, September 7 from 7:30-9 PM.  All scouts should plan to attend all meetings.  During the first meetings, patrols are formed and patrol leaders are selected.  These are key meetings for scouts to attend.  Uniforms are required for troop meetings.
